
Men's Basketball Travels to UNCW for Regular Season Finale

WILMINGTON, N.C. - The College of Charleston men's basketball team will travel to UNCW for the Cougars' final contest of the regular season on Sunday, March 1. Action is set for 7:00 p.m. on CBS Sports Network.

STORYLINES
- The Cougars have clinched the No. 2 seed in the upcoming 2026 Air Force Reserve CAA Men's Basketball Championship. A win over the Seahawks would keep the Cougars in the running for Co-Regular Season Champions with UNCW.
- Charleston is 18-24 all-time against the Seahawks. The teams last met on February 9 at TD Arena with UNCW earning the 76-64 win. Jlynn Counter led Charleston with 20 points while Christian Reeves had a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
- The Cougars are coming off an 85-71 win over Hampton on Thursday in Virginia for the program's 20th win of the season. The program has now reached 20+ wins the last four seasons. Martin Kalu had a game-high 21 points, one point off of his career-high. Reeves recorded his eighth career double-double with 16 points and ten rebounds while Connor Hickman finished with 16 points, shooting 60% from the field.
- Rookie Chadlyn Traylor recorded a career-high seven assists at Hampton. The point guard has committed just six turnovers in conference play with 31 assists.
- Since moving into the starting lineup on February 12, Chris Davis Jr. is the Cougars' second leading scorer with 11.6 points per game and second leading rebounder with 5.8 rebounds per game. He recorded his first career double-double at North Carolina A&T and a career-high 16 points vs. Monmouth.
- Redshirt sophomore Chol Machot ranks fourth in the nation in total blocks (76) and eighth in blocks per game (2.53). Three blocks against the Seahawks would move him to third all-time in a single season in program history. The next closest shot blocker in the league is teammate Reeves (39), who leads the league in field goal percentage through conference play (68%).
- Graduate point guard Counter is the only player in the CAA to rank in the top ten in conference play in scoring, assists and steals per game. He leads the league in total assists (162) and assists per game (5.6).
- Charleston continues to be one of the top rebounding teams in the nation, ranking 31st in defensive rebound per game (27.23).
- UNCW jumped out to an early 17-7 lead before the Cougars responded, going on a 6-6 stretch from the field highlighted by makes from Chris Davis Jr. and Connor Hickman to cut the deficit to 21-19 with 12 minutes to play.
- The teams traded points with neither taking more than a four-point lead until a 6-0 Seahawk run combined with a 1-10 stretch from the field for the Cougars gave UNCW a 34-27 lead with four minutes to play.
- The Cougars again cut the deficit to one before UNCW went on another 6-0 run to end the first half, taking a 42-32 lead into the locker room. Jlynn Counter had a team high 13 points at the break.
- The Seahawks took their largest lead of the game at 17 two minutes into the second half. Charleston was able to cut the deficit to ten but could not complete the comeback.
- UNCW shot 41%, narrowly outshooting the Cougars 40%. The Seahawks also narrowly won the rebounding battle 39-37. The Charleston bench outscored UNCW 23-8.
