
Cougars Win Comeback Thriller Over Seahawks

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The College of Charleston men's basketball team overcame a 15-point first half deficit to defeat UNCW 79-76 on Sunday night in Wilmington. With the win, Charleston concludes the regular season 21-10 on the year and will be the No. 2 seed in the upcoming 2026 Air Force Reserve CAA Men's Basketball Championship.

- Defense was on display as both teams struggled from the field early with the Seahawks leading 13-10 at the 11-minute mark.
- UNCW used a 9-0 run while holding Charleston scoreless for nearly three minutes to take a 35-23 lead into the locker room. Duggan led the Cougars with six points at the break.
- Charleston held UNCW 0-6 from the field to start the second half before Jlynn Counter kickstarted a 10-2 Charleston run to cut the deficit to four at 46-42 with 13 minutes to play.

- The teams traded points again until Connor Hickman cut the Seahawk led to two at 63-61 with four minutes to play before Chris Davis Jr. tied it on the next possession for a new career-high. Charleston held UNCW scoreless from the field for nearly five minutes while going on a 12-1 run capped by another Hickman triple.

- The Cougars never looked back after taking the lead, going 5-6 from the field to end the contest along with successful trips to the charity stripe from Hickman and Martin Kalu.
- Counter had a game-high 23 points with 20 coming in the second half. The point guard added seven assists to add to his CAA leading total.
- Davis Jr. reached a new career-high with 17 points.
- Hickman contributed ten points including two clutch triples down the stretch.
- Christian Reeves led the rebounding efforts with six boards.

GAME NOTES
- Charleston narrowly outshot UNCW 43% to 42%. The Cougars scored 54 of their 79 points in the second half, shooting 53% from the field in the final 20 minutes.
- The Seahawks won the rebounding battle 47-28.
- The Cougars committed zero turnovers in the second half.
- Charleston made ten three pointers for the eighth time this season.
- The win is the Cougars sixth of the season when trailing at the half and snaps a six-game losing streak to the Seahawks.
