AWENDAW, S.C. – The College of Charleston men's golf team will participate in the 2026 Hootie at Bulls Bay.
Established in 2005, the Hootie and the Blowfish with the aid of the Bulls Bay membership aimed to create a premier collegiate golf tournament that not only showcased college golf but raised money for the Hootie and the Blowfish Foundation, which supports educational programs and junior golf across the state of South Carolina.
The Cougars are joined in the field by host South Carolina, Furman, West Virginia, Kent State, ETSU, Missouri, Chattanooga, Clemson, Florida Gulf Coast, Winthrop, Purdue, Coastal Carolina, and Kansas.
Last season, former Cougar Kieron van Wyk won the tournament with an 8-under, bogey-free final round complete with six birdies and an eagle to secure a 14-under victory by two strokes over South Carolina's Frankie Harris. Charleston came in fourth place (-25), five strokes behind co-champions #39 Purdue and #18 South Carolina and two strokes behind third place Furman. The Cougars posted the lowest team total in the second round to help propel them to the top of the leaderboard.
Charleston is coming off a top three finish at The Michael A. Marino Classic, topping four Power 4 programs and three top 50 programs with a 3-under finish.
The Cougars recorded the lowest team total of the second round with a 12-under performance that featured three eagles from rookie Jules Lauer, the first time in program history a Cougar has recorded three in a single round. Lauer's 66 card ties the lowest round this season for a Cougar, matching a Miles Eubanks performance from the fall.
Johan Bredenkamp led Charleston with a top ten finish at T8 (-5). The rookie totaled 14 birdies across three rounds. Eubanks joined Bredenkamp with a below par performance, finishing T11 (-3). Eubanks totaled just one bogey in the final round.
