
Women's Basketball Handles Stony Brook; Clinches No. 1 Seed in CAA Tournament

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's basketball team (23-5, 15-2) defeated Stony Brook (17-13, 12-5) by a final of 66-43 at TD Arena on Thursday night.
With the win, Charleston has clinched the outright CAA Regular Season Title and the No. 1 overall seed in the CAA Tournament.
Head Coach Robin Harmony won her 118th game at CofC and is tied for the most wins by a Charleston head coach in the Division I era. Harmony is tied with Nancy Wilson who also won 118 games from 2003-2012.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a slow start from both teams, Taryn Barbot drilled a three from the logo to beat the first quarter buzzer and tie the game 12-all.
- The two teams traded buckets as the Seawolves held a 23-22 advantage at the second quarter media timeout.
- Sophia Tougas knocked down a corner three to give the Cougars a 25-23 lead as she helped the Cougars take a 27-24 lead into the locker room.
- Sophia Tougas capped off a 9-0 run by the Cougars as she gave CofC a 36-25 lead and forced a Stony Brook timeout with 5:36 left in the third quarter.
- The Cougars continued to find their rhythm as they outscored the Seawolves 17-8 in the rest of the period and held a 53-33 edge with 10 minutes to play.
- Four different Cougars scored in the final period as CofC cruised to a 66-43 win against Stony Brook.
- Junior Taylor Barbot stuffed the stat sheet with six points, seven assists and four rebounds.
- Junior Taryn Barbot poured in a game-high 21 points as she reached the 20 point mark for the 15th time this season. She also grabbed five rebounds, collected three steals and dished out two assists against the Seawolves.
- Senior Marissa Brown contributed eight points and seven rebounds on Thursday night.
- Junior Grace Ezebilo earned her eighth double-double of the year with a 12 point, 14 rebound performance against Stony Brook. It was her 22nd double digit rebounding game of the year.
- Redshirt senior Sophia Tougas added eight points and four rebounds.
- Charleston had 23 second chance points compared to Stony Brook's five.
- The Cougars dominated the glass and outrebounded the Seawolves 47-32.
- CofC forced 17 Stony Brook turnovers, collected eight steals and scored 16 points off turnovers.
- Charleston outscored Stony Brook 26-9 in the third quarter.
- Charleston has clinched the outright CAA Regular Season Title and the No. 1 overall seed in the CAA Tournament.
- The 2025-26 CAA Regular Season Championship is the first championship in Division I program history.
