CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston defeated South Carolina State in four sets (25-14, 25-16, 23-25, 25-17) Saturday afternoon at McAlister Field House to go a perfect 3-0 in the Lowcountry Volleyball Championship.

With the win, the Cougars improve to 4-2 on the season while the Bulldogs slide to 1-5.

CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST SOUTH CAROLINA STATE:

Charleston hit .346 in the opening frame Saturday.
Redshirt junior Rosa Brencic had a game-high 15 kills while hitting .344.
Redshirt sophomore Emma Duffield added 12 kills and 4 blocks for the Cougars.
In her first career start, freshman Lucy Haywood made 5 blocks at the net to pair with 5 kills.
Sophomore Amanda Busk tacked on 8 kills of her own while posting a .538 attacking percentage.
In the final frame, Charleston had 17 kills against SC State.
Sophomore Sydney Bates had a career-best 21 assists and had 9 digs defensively.
Senior Lainee Mack dished out 23 assists in the victory.

OF NOTE:

Charleston improves to a perfect 14-0 versus South Carolina State are 3-0 in four set contests.
Busk made her collegiate debut Saturday
Sophomore Jumana Martin had 8 digs and a pair of service aces in the victory. Martin has aces in each match to begin the year and multiple in three contests.

Charleston travels to the Upstate Tuesday for a 6 p.m. midweek matchup at Presbyterian. The match will stream live on ESPN+.
