The Cougars, 2-5-1 overall and 2-2-0 in Southern Conference play, struck first when Sage Martina scored an unassisted goal in the 30th minute. UNC Greensboro's Mike Dunaway answered with his third goal of the year to tie the game 1-1 at halftime.
After Alejandro Moreno gave UNC Greensboro a 2-1 lead on a penalty kick, CofC's Jeff Files scored the second Cougar gaol on an assist from Ricardo Diaz Granados.
Hemphill's game-winning goal, scored at the 116:11 mark, pushed the Spartans to 3-1 in conference play.
The Cougars were outshot 22-11 in a match that included seven yellow cards.
The College of Charleston will be back in action Sunday October 14,in a 2:00pm match at Patriots Point.
