Furman's Patrick Tanner put the Paladins up 1-0 at the 41:55 mark when he played a corner kick from Clint Dempsey through the defense. Furman held off the College of Charleston offense in the second half with Scott Blount recording his fifth shutout of the season. Tanner's goal was his second-straight game winner. He got the win for the Paladins against Wofford in the first round.
College of Charleston goalkeeper Wes Martino had three saves on the day and faced 18 shots.
Furman (16-4) advances to the championship on Sunday, November 18 at 3:00 pm and will face the winner of the UNC Greensboro/Georgia Southern match. The Paladins have played in the last nine championship games and are riding a 32-match unbeaten streak in SoCon matches, including the tournament. College of Charleston ends its season with a 6-11-1 record.
