#articleRelated { display: none !important; } Kristin Rhyne picked up her first hat trick of the season as the Cougars defeated the Elon Phoenix, 4-1, in women's soccer action tonight at Patriots Point in Mt. Pleasant, SC.

The Cougars improve to 8-5-1 overall and 4-3-1 in the SoCon, while Elon drops to 3-11 and 2-5.

Rhyne's first goal came at the 14:55 mark when she sent the assist from Jamie Stewart ricocheting of the right post into the back of the net. Rhyne scored again at 25:04 off the Megan Broderick assist. Rhyne added an assist to her stats at the 33:35 mark when she sent a perfect corner kick to Carolyn Morris, who fed it to Crystal Petroccoro for the score. Rhyne topped off the night with a goal at 81:09 off another assist from Morris.

Elon avoided the shut-out with a goal by Kerry McCarron at 56:18.

Rhyne had four shots to lead the Cougar squad, while Phoenix Kate Schabo led with her three shots on the night. As a team Charleston edge Elon in shots, 12-8, and in corner kicks, 4-2.

The Cougars travel to Coastal Carolina Oct. 21st for a 6:00 PM matchup, while Elon hosts Furman in a 7:00 PM game the same day.
