The Keydets drop to 4-14 on the year while the Cougars improve to 11-3-3 heading into the Southern Conference tournament being held Nov. 13-16 at Patriots Point and Blackbaud Stadium.
Gold took a shot early in the game, which was blocked back to the goalkeeper. Gold picked up the rebound and sent it into the net at 3:59 for the game's first score. Martina added the assist on the play. Martina and Gold reversed positions next when Martina netted the goal off the Gold assist at 9:16. Just four minutes later Gold scored again off the Ricardo Diaz Granados assist at 13:41. Martina used a Ben Hollingsworth assist at 39:29 to score the fourth Cougar goal and end the first half.
The Cougars padded the lead in the second half when Jeff Files took the assist in from Hollingsworth at 76:33.
Granados led the Cougars with four shots, two of which were on goal. Rory Page, Ross Davis and Kyle Clark led the Keydet effort with two shots. As a team the College of Charleston led, 15-7, in shots, with both teams even in saves, 3-3.
The Cougars will go into the Southern Conference tournament as the #2-seed and will face #7-seed Elon Nov. 13th at 7:00 PM at Patriots Point. Call (843) 953-5479 for ticket information.
