Charleston improves to 11-4-3 overall and 7-2-2 in the Southern Conference. With 11 wins the Cougars tie their highest win total in the history of the program. The other times were in 1999 and 2003. The Wildcats fall to 10-8-1 and 7-3-1.
Rhyne scored her first goal of the game just 11:41 in the contest, taking the assist from Caroline Wertis past the Davidson goalkeeper. The Wildcats answered at 38:36 after Jenny Soldano's shot bounced off the Cougar goalkeeper's hands and set up the successful kick by Kristen Koehrn into the back of the net. The goal was the first the Cougars had given up since Oct. 4th against Furman. The first half would end in a 1-1 deadlock.
Both teams had opportunity to score in the second half but it would be Rhyne who came through in the end at 74:35. She took a pass from Carolyn Morris from the left of the goal and headed it in for the score and eventual game-winner.
Charleston out-shot Davidson 14-4 for the contest, with the Wildcats coming out ahead in saves, 5-1. Kara Koehrn led Davidson with two shots while Rhyne's four shots paced the Cougars.
Both Davidson and College of Charleston have ended their regular-season and will participate in the Southern Conference tournament slated for Nov. 4-7th in Greensboro, NC. Game times will be announced later.
