Furman (13-8-0) will face the winner of Friday's second semifinal game between top-seeded and defending tournament champion UNC Greensboro and fifth-seeded Davidson. The Paladins advanced to their seventh championship game appearance in 11 years of Southern Conference Women's Soccer. Furman was making its tenth semifinal appearance, while College of Charleston was making its second, both coming in the last three years.
Kelly's tally came 1:53 into the game when she dribbled down the right side and fired a shot from just inside the right side of the box. It skidded along the ground into the lower left corner of the net for the only goal of the game.
College of Charleston (12-5-3) had an outstanding opportunity to score with just over 16 minutes to play. The Cougars' Amanda Andrews hit a shot from 22 yards just above the top-left corner of the box. However, Furman keeper Andie Hinshaw leaped and knocked the shot up over the crossbar to preserve the shutout.
