The Cougars put up the first goal just 4:07 into the game when Megan Broderick crossed the ball over the head over the goalkeeper from about 10 yards out on the right. Teryn Schuetz and Colleen Hoban picked up the assists on the play. The second goal was a successful penalty kick by Dana Gregg at 28:24.
Danielle Jordan set up the third Cougar goal with her corner kick on the right side. Jordan passed the ball to Lou Hudson, who headed the ball into the left side of the net at 19:50.
Kristin Rhyne scored the fourth goal of the game, after being set up by another one of Jordan's corner kicks at 60:01.
Georgia Southern managed to avoid being shutout with at late goal by Kate Boardman. Boardman scored off of a deflected shot by fellow Eagle Jenni Boykin to avoid being blanked for the second SoCon match in a row. The Eagles fell to Chattanooga on Oct. 9th 2-0.
The Cougars out-shot the Eagles 20-10, while the saves were even at four each. Hoban paced Charleston with four shots while Ashley Toussaint led the Eagles with three shots.
The College of Charleston travels to Wofford Oct. 16th for a 2:00 PM match, while Georgia Southern travels to UNC Greensboro for a match the same day and time.
