The Cougars end their season with a 9-8-2 record, while the Paladins advance to the SoCon Tournament semifinals with an overall mark of 8-7-4.
Milroth put the Cougars up first with a header at the far post at 11:48. Jeremy Gold picked up the assist, setting up the goal off a free kick.
The lead lasted less than a minute as Furman's Martin scored at 12:36 off the assist from Shea Salinas. The first half ended with the scored knotted at one apiece.
The Paladins took the lead at 56:27 after the Cougars fouled in the box to set up the successful penalty kick by Dominic Cianciarulo.
Furman looked as though it would take the game in regulation but Gold picked up a header from Milroth and one-touched it past the goalkeeper at 89:22. Hunter Gilstrap also picked up an assist on the play.
The game would go into the first overtime and almost went into a second before Furman's Martin scored his second goal of the night at 99:20 to give the Paladins the win. Kevin Norman garnered the assist.
The Cougars out-shot the Paladins 21-14, with Furman coming away with the 8-2 advantage in saves. Charleston was led by Milroth with six shots while Martin and Salinas paced the Paladins with four shots apiece.
Furman will face #1 Seed Davidson in the semifinal round of the SoCon Tournament to be held Nov. 11th at 4:30 PM at Blackbaud Stadium in Charleston, S.C.
