CofC Loses Season Finale To UNC Greensboro, 2-1

UNC Greensboro's two second-half goals lifted the Spartans to a victory over the College of Charleston, 2-1, in women's soccer action at Patriots Point on Sunday afternoon.
With the victory, UNC Greensboro's record improved to 10-7-2 overall and 9-0-1 in the SoCon. The loss drops CofC to 8-8-2 overall and 6-4-0 in the SoCon.
Senior Teryn Schuetz scored her fourth goal of the season in the 42nd minute to give CofC the advantage, 1-0. Freshman Brittany Schneider provided Schuetz with a crossing pass into the penalty area that was punched home for the goal.
At the end of the first half, CofC attempted four shots and two corner kicks, while UNC Greensboro took eight shots and four corner kicks.
Emily Stewart scored the first goal for UNC Greensboro in the 54th minute to level the score, 1-1. Stewart deflected a crossing pass from Jen Bronson within the penalty box for the score.
Karla Davis scored the game-winner for UNC Greensboro in the 66th minute by heading in a free kick from Shannon Donovan to make the score 2-1, in favor of the Spartans.
Overall, CofC attempted five shots and four corner kicks in the match, while UNC Greensboro took 19 shots and eight corner kicks.
Sophomore Erin Smith had six saves in the match for CofC, while Katherine Ryan had three saves for UNC Greensboro.
The Cougars return to action on Oct. 31, when they host a 2006 Southern Conference Women's Soccer Championship first round match against Western Carolina
