The Cougars fall to 1-6 overall, while the Pirates improve to 9-4.
Jenna Marks and Amanda Becker won at number three doubles 8-3, as East Carolina took the other two by scores of 8-4 and 8-5 to win the doubles decision.
In singles play the Pirates took all but one match as Capewell took the 6-3, 6-3 decision over Anca Dumitru at number one. The number four singles was not finished as rain settled in toward the afternoon. That match would not matter as the rest of the matches were taken by the Pirates.
The Cougars' match against Savannah State, scheduled for 3:30 PM this afternoon, was cancelled due to rain and will not be made up. The Pirates travel to Appalachian State Mar. 4th at 10:00 AM.
