CofC Women's Tennis Defeats Elon, 6-1

The College of Charleston women's team remained undefeated in conference play with the 6-1 win over the Elon Phoenix this afternoon at the tennis center at Patriots Point in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
The Cougars improve to 8-7 overall and a perfect 4-0 in the Southern Conference. Elon drops to 6-8 and 1-4.
After winning two of three doubles matches the Cougars took five of six singles matches for the victory. Two of the singles matches went into three sets, with Charleston pulling out victory in one of them. Amanda Becker won over Elizabeth Kernodle, 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 at number two, but Payten Ellington fell, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, to Melissa Holland at number four.
Elon travels to Spartanburg, S.C. to take on Wofford Monday, March 20th at 2:00, while the Charleston hosts Morehead State Thursday, March 23rd for a 1:00 match
