Rebecca Hall's goal with 49 seconds left in double overtime lifted Kennesaw State to a hard-fought 1-0 decision over the College of Charleston in women's soccer action before 173 at Patriots Point Field on Monday.
With the win, the Owls improved to 2-1-0, while the Cougars fell to 2-1-0. The Cougars return to action on Friday, Sept. 8, when they face UNC Wilmington at Patriots Point at 7 p.m.
Hall's header, which came off an assist from Stephanie Grzeszkowiak, found the top right corner of the net and broke a 279-minute shutout streak held by the Cougars to start the season.
College of Charleston had a golden opportunity of their own in the sudden death period when Brittany Schneider's angled shot from 12 yards went wide with just the Kennesaw State keeper to beat.
CofC (2-1-0) had threee shots on goal in the match, while KSU had jut eight. Senior Caroline Wertis and sophomore Danielle Jordan led the Cougars with two shots each.
Sophomore goalkeeper Erin Smith played the entire match for CofC and had six saves.
