Davidson, N.C. -- A Matt Morris penalty kick late in the second half pushed the College of Charleston over Davidson, 2-1, in the final men's Southern Conference game of the season Saturday afternoon.

The Cougars finish the season 12-4-1 overall and 6-1-0 in the conference. The Wildcats' record drops to 4-12-1, 2-4-1 in the SoCon. With the victory, Charleston
clinches the second seed in the SoCon tournament.

After both teams had a pair of great scoring chances midway through the opening half, Davidson's Robby Hoak put the first mark on the board with a 31st minute header off a short corner set up from both Alex Caskey and Charlie Reiter.

Sophomore Kareem Yearwood put CofC on the board in the 43^rd minute. He blasted the ball from 12 yards out after a pair of one-touch passes by David Munson and Zach Prince.

Morris gave the Cougars the edge after the Wildcats committed a foul in their penalty box (70:59).

The Cougar defense held Davidson to just one shot in the second half. CofC finished with a 17-5 shot advantage led by Yearwood's four attempts and a 9-5 edge in corner kicks.

Charleston will be back in action Sat., Nov 10, when it hosts a first-round SoCon tournament game at Patriots Point in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
