
CofC Women?s Tennis Advances to SoCon Tournament Finals

The College of Charleston women's tennis team advanced to the SoCon Tournament Final with a thrilling 4-2 victory over Davidson at the Earle Tennis Center on The Citadel campus in Charleston, S.C on Apr. 21. CofC has won four consecutive matches.
The victory improves
The Cougars will face Furman in the finals on Apr. 22 beginning at 10 a.m. at the
CofC won two out of the three doubles matches to earn one team point. The All-SoCon Second-Team doubles tandem of Holly Dowse and Anna Lee Evans won its match for CofC against Kim Whelan and Kelsey Linville of Davidson, 8-3 in the No. 1 doubles match. They improved to 17-5 overall for the season. Laura Borza and Link Leskosky won the other doubles match for CofC with an 8-2 victory over Virginia Bailey and Meredith Skeeters in the No. 2 doubles match.
The Cougars won three singles matches to clinch the victory. Evans defeated Whelan, 6-0, 7-6, in the No. 4 singles match to improve her singles record to 12-8 on the year. All-SoCon Second-Team singles member Holly Dowse improved to 17-2 on the year with a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Lora Dushanova in the No. 5 singles match. Amanda Becker improved to 15-5 on the season with a 7-5, 6-3 triumph over Skeeters in the No. 6 singles match.
