Davidson (3-3-0) shutout previously unbeaten Louisiana State (6-1-2) in the championship game of the College of Charleston Tournament, 3-0, at Patriots Point Field in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
Davidson led LSU 1-0 at the end of the first half, despite the Tigers' 5-1 shot advantage.
The Wildcats' single, first-half shot resulted in the game-winning goal. Midfielder Courtney Hart settled a free kick from Allison Drutchas and found the back of the net from five yards out (31:46).
Defense dominated for both teams. At the end of the second half, LSU had taken only nine total shots while Davidson took seven.
The Wildcats' second and third goals came just more than a minute apart, midway through the second half. Forward Kristen Koehrn dribbled deep into Tiger territory then passed the ball off to Lauren Conner for the score (73:01).
In the 75th minute, Kyri Bye-Nagel broke free of the LSU defenders to score the final goal of the game.
