
CofC Men?s Soccer Team Continues SoCon Play at Elon Saturday Night

The College of Charleston men's soccer team continues Southern Conference play on Saturday, Oct. 11th when the Cougars travel to Elon for a match set to start at 7 p.m.
The Cougars come into their match with Elon with a 7-4-0 overall mark and is coming off a 3-0 win over Davidson on Oct. 4th in what was the team's first Southern Conference win of the season.
Charleston is led by junior forward Kareem Yearwood, who has tallied a goal in four of the last five games the Cougars have played in. Freshman goalie Clark Hankins picked up his third shutout wins in four starts against Davidson and is currently the conference leader in goals against average (0.72).
Elon comes into the match sporting a 4-7-1 overall mark, but the team has seen success in the SoCon, as they are 3-0-0 in the league and have outscored their opponents 8-3 in the three wins.
Elon is led offensively by Justin Wyatt, who has tallied 15 points (six goals, three assists) on the season. Wyatt scored the game-winner in Elon's 2-1 win at Appalachian State on Oct. 14th. Kyle Boehner has been the squad's primary goalie and has made 35 saves in nine starts on the year.
Last season, the Cougars scored consecutive goals in the second half to take a 2-0 decision at home. Charleston took a 1-0 lead after an Elon player headed in a goal in his own net in the 50th minute, while Matt Morris put the match away with a goal in the 74th minute off an assist from Branko Gavric. The Cougars have won seven matches in a row in the series with Elon dating back to 2001.
