
CofC Men?s Soccer Team set to take on In-State rival Coastal Carolina on Saturday night

CHARLESTON, S.C. ? The College of Charleston men's soccer team will play their final non-conference match of the 2008 season on Saturday, Nov. 1st when they travel to Coastal Carolina. The match will begin at 7 p.m.
The Cougars come into the match sporting a 9-7-0 overall mark, 3-3-0 on the Southern Conference. In Charleston's last match against Furman on Oct. 24th, the Cougars were victorious 2-1. The match was televised to a nationally audience on the Fox Soccer Channel.
In the win over Furman, Steven Nagy (Cali, Columbia) scored the game-winner in the 46th minute of the contest. Goalkeepers Clark Hankins (Montgomery, Ala.) and Brendan Smith (Greenville, S.C.) combined to hold Furman to just one goal on the night, as Smith replaced Hankins in the second half and made three saves over the final 36 minutes of the match.
For the season, juniors Kareem Yearwood (Sousou Lands, Tobago) and Zach Prince (Columbia, S.C.), along with senior Matt Morris (Anderson, S.C.) share the lead in points with 11. Morris and Yearwood have each scored five goals on the season. Hankins has been the team's primary keeper, making 33 saves in nine starts.
Coastal Carolina comes into their match with the Cougars with a 7-7-1 overall mark, 5-1-1 in the Big South Conference. The Chanticleer's knocked off Presbyterian, 4-2 in their last match on Oct. 29th.
For the season, Robert Hunter leads the team offensively as he has recorded 21 points (eight goals, five assists) on the season. In goal, Phillip Latham has made 39 saves and recorded a 1.63 goals against average.
Last season, the Cougars rallied from a 1-0 halftime deficit to knock off the Chanticleers 2-1 in the championship match of the UNC Wilmington/Jameson Inn Classic. Wes Knight (Columbia, S.C.) scored the game-winner for the Cougars in the 88th minute.
Coastal Carolina leads the all-time series with the College of Charleston 11-6-4.
