
CofC Women?s Soccer team set for Weekend Slate of SoCon Matches Against Davidson and Georgia Southern

The College of Charleston women's soccer team returns to action this weekend as they continue Southern Conference play. The Cougars host Davidson on Friday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. at Patriots Point Soccer Stadium, then will go on the road and play at Georgia Southern on Sunday, Oct. 12 at 1 p.m.
The Cougars come into the weekend with an 8-3-2 overall record, 1-2-1 in the SoCon, after the team battled Elon to a 1-1 draw on Oct 3rd, then fell to UNC Greensboro 1-0 in overtime on Oct. 5th.
Charleston was led on the weekend by goalie Erin Smith, who made nine saves in the two matches. Against Elon, Smith held the Phoenix scoreless through 80 minutes in regulation and in both overtime periods. Against UNC Greensboro, she held the defending SoCon champions scoreless through 90 minutes in regulation and made five saves.
Davidson comes into their match with the Cougars riding a four-game winning streak (all matches were in SoCon play) and with a 6-2-3 overall mark. Last weekend, the Wildcats had little problems at home with Samford (3-0) and Chattanooga (5-0).
Davidson was led by Kyri Bye-Nagel, who tallied three goals in the two matches to earn Southern Conference Player of the Week honors. Defensively, the Wildcats have not given up a goal in three matches.
Georgia Southern comes into their tilt with Charleston with a 4-5-2 record, 2-2-0 in the SoCon after the Eagles split with Chattanooga (W, 3-2) and Samford (L, 1-0) last weekend.
The Eagles are led by the Southern Conference scoring leader Ashley Toussaint, who has tallied 20 points on the season (eight goals, four assists).
Last season, the Cougars Lost to Davidson on the road 2-1 in overtime. Chrissy Caruso scored the Cougars lone goal on the night off an assist from Danielle Jordan. Last season against Georgia Southern, Charleston was victorious 2-0, as Christy Barrow and Brittany Schneider tallied goals.
