CHARLESTON, S.C. ? The College of Charleston Strength and Conditioning Department has announced that sailing's Katie Weaver and men's basketball's Dustin Scott have been named the program's Lifters of the Month for November.
Senior forward Dustin Scott (Jamestown, S.C.) was selected as a result of his consistent hard work in the weight room. “It is easy for athletes to want to relax with the start of season” said Cougars Strength and Conditioning Coach Cameron Davidson. “Dustin has done a tremendous job with keeping his work ethic at a high level and he also does a great job challenging others and raising their level of intensity”. This type of attitude will allow Dustin and others to perform at a high level late in the season.
Junior Katie Weaver (Davidsonville, Md.) earned the honors for the women's athletic program. She has displayed a commitment level that never waivers from one day to the next and seems to look at every training session as a chance to improve herself and help her team gain an advantage over their opponent. Her well known work ethic among her teammates goes far beyond never missing a workout, but it's the attitude of taking advantage of every opportunity that separates Katie from the average athlete.
Criteria for the award is 1) Attending all workouts and being on time, 2) Consistently working hard, 3) Making a commitment to achieving personal and team goals, 4) Motivating teammates during lifts and conditioning sessions and 5) Maintaining a positive attitude.
