
Dowse's Decision Helps CofC Down Stetson, 4-3

Holly Dowse's three-set win at No. 3 singles lifted the College of Charleston's women's tennis team to a thrilling 4-3 win over Stetson at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center on Friday.
The Cougars improved to 5-1 after winning the 4-hour, 20-minute marathon. Stetson fell to 2-4. Charleston plays at North Florida at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday.
After dropping the first set to Unnati Purushotham, Dowse won the second set 6-4 and the decisive third set 7-6 (7-2).
The Cougars also got wins from Anna Lee Evans at No. 4 singles over Natalie Gorham 6-4, 6-2 and at No. 6 singles when Amanda Becker downed Catherine Canady 6-3, 6-3.
Charleston won the doubles point by sweeping all three matches. Dowse teamed with Keely Mulligan at No. 1 to win 8-7 over Galbarini and Purushotham. At No. 2, Laura Borza and Kinsey Casey won 8-6 over Gorham and Katherine Nowicki. Chelsea Albertz and Evans cruised to an 8-5 victory over Breanna Atkinson and Katherine St. Clair.
