
Men?s Soccer Opens Season on Friday

The
Head coach Ralph Lundy, entering his 22nd season as head coach of the Cougars, returns 23 letterwinners from a team that won 13 games last season and advanced to the semifinals of the Southern Conference tournament. The team was picked third in the 2008 SoCon Preseason Coaches poll and earned a first place vote.
Top returnees include Preseason All-Southern Conference selections Kareem Yearwood, Wes Knight and Justin Fojo.
Yearwood, a junior from Sou Sou Lands, Tobago and a nominee for the 2008 Hermann Award, was named First-Team All-SoCon last year after ending the season as Charleston's leading scorer with 29 points. He ended the season tied for the conference lead in both goals (13) and points, while ending the year as the conference leader in game winning goals (6). Yearwood was also selected to the NSCAA All-South Region Team for his efforts.
Knight, a senior from Easley, S.C, was an All-SoCon second team selection at the end of last season. He ended the year tied for fourth in the conference in assists and was also a selection on the NSCAA All-South Region second team.
