
Women's Soccer Looks to remain unbeaten at Davidson Tournament

Charleston S.C. --- The College of Charleston women's soccer team will travel to Davidson, N.C. this weekend to take part in the 2008 Davidson Tournament.
On Friday, the Cougars will take on Richmond at 5:00 pm., while on Sunday the Cougars face-off with Lehigh at 1:00 p.m.
This is the first time in the history of the Cougar program that they will be taking the pitch with both Richmond and Lehigh.
"The fact that we've never played both of these teams before presents some new challenges for us," said head coach Kevin Dempsey. "Richmond and Lehigh are both very solid teams and we're going to have to put it all together if we want to come out of the weekend still unbeaten."
The Cougars enter the match with a perfect 4-0 record, which is the best start in the history of the program. Senior Megan Manthey leads the team in points with seven (two goals, three assists) and has recorded a point in each of the teams four games. Goalkeeper Erin Smith has won her first three matches and has a goals against average of 0.67
Richmond comes into the weekend with a 3-0 record and is coming off a 3-1 win over Longwood on Tuesday. The team is ranked sixth in the latest Soccerbuzz.com Mid-Atlantic poll.
Lehigh is 1-1 on the season and is coming off a 1-0 win over Albany this past Sunday. Freshman goalkeeper Lauren Mains was named the Patriot Leagues goalkeeper of the week for her efforts in the match against Albany.
The Cougars will return to action on Saturday, September 13th when they host High Point. The match is set to start at 7 p.m.
