
Men's Soccer Travels to Furman for Diadora/Spinx Invitational

Charleston, S.C. --- The College of Charleston's men's soccer team hits the road once again this weekend when they travel to Greenville, S.C. to participate in the 2008 Furman Diadora/Spinx Invitational.
The Cougars will take on Washington at 4:30 p.m. on Friday and will finish off the weekend with a game against Bowling Green on Sunday at 11 a.m.
The Cougars come into the weekend after splitting two games at the Davidson Soccer Classic last week. The team defeated Marshall 2-0, then fell to Charlotte 5-3.
Five different Cougar players scored goals over the two games, while Kareem Yearwood, Zach Prince and Branko Gavric were named to the All-Tournament team for their efforts.
Washington comes into their match with the Cougars after dropping two games against Farleigh Dickinson and Virginia Tech last weekend at the Nike Portland Classic. Last season, the Huskies went 9-8-4 overall.
Bowling Green comes into the weekend with an 0-1 record after dropping their season opener against nationally ranked South Florida 3-0. The Falcons return 15 letterwinners and seven starters from last years squad.
The last and only time Washington faced off the with Cougars the Huskies were victorious 2-0 in the opening round of the 2002 Gamecock Classic. This will be the first meeting all-time between the College of Charleston and Bowling Green.
The Cougars will return to the pitch on Friday, September 12th when they have their first home match of the season against Ohio State. The match is set to start at 7:30 p.m. and is a part of the 2008 Aaron Olitsky Memorial/Nike Soccer Classic.
