CofC Track & Field?s Emily Smith named Southern Conference Athlete of the Month

SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- College of Charleston track & field competitor Emily Smith (Rock Hill, S.C.) was named the Southern Conference Athlete of the Month for Women's Field on Thursday.
Smith, a freshman, began the month by tying for first place in the high jump at the UNC Classic with a leap of 1.68 meters. She followed up that performance with a winning jump of 1.74 meters at the Niswonger Invitational. On the season, Smith has won or tied for first in all three of her meets and is already the school record holder in the high jump.
The College of Charleston track & field team returns to action on Friday, Feb. 13 when they take part in the Carolina Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C.
