CofC Women?s Tennis sweeps pair of matches with Stetson and Winthrop

With the victories, the Cougars improve to 4-1 on the season, while with the losses, Stetson falls to 0-3 and Winthrop drops to 2-2.
In the Stetson match, the Cougars picked up a point after sweeping doubles play. In singles, both Charleston and Stetson won three matches each. For the Cougars, Holly Dowse (Tuncurry, Australia) and Kinsey Casey (Alpharetta, Ga.) were straight set winners in the two and five spots, while Caroline Newman (Greensboro, N.C.) was a winner in three-sets (5-7, 6-3, 6-4) in the third spot.
In the Winthrop match, the Cougars took two of three matches in doubles play to earn a point and then took four of the six matches in singles play.
Keely Mulligan (Miami, Fla.) and Anna Lee Evans (Vilas, N.C.) were straight set winners in the five and six spots, while Dowse and Newman had hard fought three-set victories in the first and third spots to lead the Cougars.
The College of Charleston women's tennis team returns to action on Feb. 20th when they visit Georgetown beginning at noon.
