
CofC Track & Field Competes at Furman Invitational

GREENVILLE, S.C. ? The College of Charleston women's track and field team took part in the Furman Invitational on Saturday.
Top finishers on the day included the 4x100 meter relay team of Laura Call, Ariel Hatcher, Saskia Kalmeijer, and Mary Zolga who placed first in the event with a time of 49.26, while Zolga also finished first in the 400-meter dash with at time of 57.54.
Hatcher also registered a top finish in the 200-meter dash with at time of 25.65, while Isabel Boersma finished first in the long jump with a 17-04.50-meter effort. Boersma also placed first in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.52
Jessica Cumbee was the top finisher in the pole vault with a 10-06.00 meter effort and Emily Smith was tops in the high jump with a 5-06.00 meter performance.
Other top finishers on the day for Charleston included Brynne Johnson, who placed third in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.25 and Alyssa D'Orazio finished second in the 1500-meters with a time of 4:45.82. Hilary Vigh was a third place finisher in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.25, Kristen Wolfe was second in the 800-meters in 2:18.56 and Laura Call was a second-place finisher in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:07.71.
The Cougars return to action on April 25th when they take part in the 2009 Southern Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Statesboro, Ga.
