
CofC Women?s Tennis Tops Georgia Southern, 6-1

STATESBORO, GA. ? The College of Charleston women's tennis team defeated Georgia Southern 6-1 in Southern Conference action this afternoon at the Hanner Tennis Complex.
With the win, the Cougars improved to 20-4, 8-1 in the Southern Conference and clinched the second seed in the upcoming SoCon Tournament. Georgia Southern fell to 12-6, 6-3 in the SoCon. Charleston returns to action on Friday when they host Samford at 1:30.
The Cougars got off to a good start in doubles action sweeping three matches and then took five of the six matches played in singles to coast to victory.
In singles action, Laura Borza won in three sets (6-7 (1-7), 6-3, 1-0 (10-4)) over Kristi Kegerreis in the number one spot, while Holly Dowse was a straight set victor over Ali Beavers at number two singles 6-3, 6-2.
In the number three spot, Caroline Newman rolled to a 6-1, 6-0 win over Molly Maddox and Keely Mulligan was a 6-0, 6-3 winner at number five singles over Jessica Fuller. Kinsey Casey rounded out the Charleston singles winners on the day with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Shea Huxtable at the number six spot.
