? Cougars Bash The Citadel
The Cougars got back to their winning ways on Tuesday night, as they cruised past rival The Citadel, 21-8 at Patriots Point. The win was an historic one in a few ways:
- The 21 runs by the Cougars were the most scored by Charleston against The Citadel . CofC had scored 15 runs on two previous occasions - the last, in a 15-9 win at The Citadel on April 28, 2007.
- It equalled the Cougars' largest win over the Bulldogs. CofC beat The Citadel, 13-0, on March 23, 2005.
- With the win, The Cougars are 18-7 vs. The Citadel dating back to the 2003 season, while the team has won nine of the last 10 matchups overall.
? Bergman Stays Red Hot
Third baseman Joey Bergman continued his torrid offensive season in The Citadel and Mercer games, going 5-for-10 with five RBI and two home runs ... the two homers came in the Cougars win against the Bulldogs, as Bergman hit a three-run and two run homer in the victory ... he is now batting .452 on the season with eight home runs and 33 RBI ... has also recorded a hit in 21 of the last 23 games he has played in on the season.
