Georgia shot an 850, breaking its own tournament record of 858, to claim the 2009 Duramed Cougar Classic held Sept. 13-14 at Yeamans Hall Golf Club in Charleston, S.C. The Bulldogs finished 14-under par and seven strokes ahead of Florida State. The College of Charleston finished 10th with an 891 after firing a 305 in the third round.
Georgia's Marta Silva Zamora won individual medalist honors after firing a 70 in the third round to finish with a 208. She beat out Florida State's Lacey Agnew by one stroke.
Leigh Whittaker (Baden-Baden, Germany) led the Cougars with a three-round total of 218 for a tie at 16th. Kathy Boehm (Poing, Germany) finished tied for 34th with a 223 and tied for 39th with a 224 was Emily Rapp (Simpsonville, S.C.).
Ainhoa Nogales (Pozuelo de Alarcon, Spain) tied for 62nd with a 231 and Vanessa Koechli (Greer, S.C.) tied for 66th with a 233. Anna Martin competed as an individual and finished 82nd with a 239.
Charleston next competes at the Lady Northern Invitational Sept. 26-27 in Madison, Wisc.
