
CofC Women?s Soccer Set for Silver Cup Match with Charleston Southern

The College of Charleston women's soccer team will host cross-town rival Charleston Southern on Tuesday, Sept. 22 at Patriots Point Soccer Stadium in the annual Silver Cup match. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
The Cougars come into Tuesday night's match with a 3-3-1 overall mark. In Charleston's last match on Sept. 16th, the Cougars controlled things from the start in a convincing 4-0 win over USC Upstate. Hannah Gmerek led the way for the Cougars scoring two goals. Overall, Charleston outshot USC Upstate 21-2 and held a 12-1 margin in corner kicks.
Charleston Southern comes into their matchup with the Cougars posting a 6-2 overall record. The Lady Bucs defeated Newberry 3-2 in their last match on Sunday afternoon. For the season, CSU's leading goal scorer is Sarah Cateneacci, who has tallied six goals, while the team's point leader is Marky Boyce with 16 points (five goals and six assists). Lady Buc goalie Alyssa Budros had made 20 saves in net and has posted a 1.23 goals against average.
Last Season, the Cougars and the Lady Bucs battled to a 2-2 tie at Charleston Southern. Megan Manthey and Hope Atkinson scored goals for the Cougars in the draw, as the Cougars retained the Silver Cup with the tie.
