CofC Picks Up Second Straight Victory With 5-2 Win Over Stetson

Stetson (4-2) picked up the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 spots. Top-seeded Holly Dowse (Tuncurry, Australia/Forster) and Emma Hayman (Wanganui, New Zealand/New Mexico) forced Valentina Galbarini and Carolina D.L. Santos to extra games before eventually falling 9-7. Senior Anna Lee Evans (Vilas, N.C./Watauga) competed in her first doubles match of the season, pairing up with junior Kinsey Casey (Alpharetta, Ga./Northview) to defeat Stetson's Breanna Atkinson and Katherine Nowicki, 8-5.
Charleston (2-3) took five of the six matches in singles competition. Sophomore Caroline Newman (Greensboro, N.C./Page) earned the first point for the Cougars with a 6-2, 6-0 victory at the No. 4 spot. Hayman followed suit with a victory over second-seeded Unnati Purushotham. After dropping the first set 6-3, Hayman rebounded to win the next two sets 6-1, 6-0.
Freshman Irene Viana (Paris, France/Lycee de Montgeron) and Evans also won their matches in three sets. Top-seeded Dowse picked up her first singles victory of the season with a 7-6, 6-1 victory over Galbarini.
