Cougars Finish Tied for Ninth at Pinehurst Spring Challenge

The College of Charleston women's golf team fired a 305 in the third round to total a 919 and finish tied for ninth at the Pinehurst Spring Challenge held Mar. 22-23 at Pinehurst #6 in Pinehurst, N.C. Florida State won the tournament with a three-round total of 863, with Maryland in second with an 896. Charleston tied with UNC Greensboro and was just one stroke from Eight-place East Carolina.
Seminole Lacey Agnew took home medalist honors with a 212, while Terrapin Christine Shimel was second with a 214.
Leigh Whittaker (Baden-Baden, Germany) led the Cougar effort, finishing tied for 25th with a 228. Vanessa Koechli (Greer, S.C.) and Ainhoa Nogales (Pozuelo del Alarcon, Spain) tied for 28th with a 229 each, while Emily Rapp (Simpsonville, S.C.) tied for 44th with a 233. Katharina Boehm (Poing, Germany) shot a 242 to tie for 73rd.
Anna Martin (Easley, S.C.), competing as an individual for the Cougars, tied for 76th with a 244.
The Cougars next compete at the Bryan National Intercollegiate April 2-4 at Bryan Park Golf Club in Brown Summitt, N.C.
