Goudelock, who is the school's all-time leading scorer, was drafted 46th overall in the second round of the 2011 NBA Draft and played 13 minutes off the bench against the Bulls. He saw action over league veterans Matt Barnes, Jason Kapono, Luke Walton and Andrew Bynum, who did not play.
Goudelock previously recorded nine points going 3-of-8 from the floor and 3-of-5 from beyond the arc with four rebounds and three assists in LA's preseason game against the Los Angeles Clippers on Dec. 21. He informed CofC Head Coach Bobby Cremins of making the Lakers' cut after the Cougars' 77-70 road win at Coastal Carolina on Dec. 22, with the franchise officially announcing its final roster on Saturday.
"There's just something about that kid that intrigues me," said Lakers Head Coach Mike Brown after the Clippers game. "He's a mature kid. He can handle the basketball and shoot the basketball. He is tough mentally and physically. He is a very good defender. For a young guy, he is very far advanced, in my opinion. He is not just a shooter. He can do a lot of things with the basketball. I'm just looking for pieces that fit and guys who can help us win. He may be one of those guys, but we have to wait and see."
It marked the first time a Cougar Basketball player played minutes in an NBA regular-season game since former CofC star Anthony Johnson, who played 13 years in the league and was drafted by the Sacramento Kings in 1997, played against the Philadelphia 76ers as a member of the Orlando Magic in April of 2010.
"I'm just really excited for the future and I am blessed to be in this position," Goudelock said. "Thank you to everyone back at CofC, the coaching staff, my former teammates and Cougar Nation for continuing to support me throughout my college career and now, my professional career."
