
#2 Cougars Open 2026 Air Force Reserve CAA Men's Basketball Championship Sunday

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The No. 2 College of Charleston Cougars will open the 2026 Air Force Reserve CAA Men's Basketball Championship in Washington, D.C. on Sunday, March 8 vs. the winner of No. 7 Towson and No. 12 Hampton at CareFirst Arena. Quarterfinal action is set for 6:00 p.m.

STORYLINES
- The Cougars enter the 2026 Air Force Reserve CAA Men's Basketball Championship as the No. 2 seed, the fourth consecutive year the Cougars have earned a top four seed. Charleston is chasing the program's third league title in the last four seasons.
- The Cougars are riding five game winning streak and have won 17 of their last 21 contests, including four of the last five on the road ending the regular season with a 79-76 comeback win at UNCW. Down by as much as 15, Charleston scored 56 second half points and committed zero turnovers in the last twenty minute to secure the road victory.
- Charleston placed four Cougars on the All-CAA postseason teams, the most of any program in the league. Chol Machot earned Defensive Player of the Year while Jlynn Counter earned first team accolades. Christian Reeves was named to the All-CAA Third Team and All-Defensive Team, and Chris Davis Jr. was named to the All-Rookie squad.
- Chris Mack's program has been able to close out games down the stretch, entering D.C. 9-1 in games decided by five points or less.
- Charleston concluded the regular season ranking 39th in the nation in defensive rebounds per game (26.94), and 42nd in free throws made per game (17.6).
- Redshirt-sophomore Machot ranks sixth in the nation in total blocks (77) and eighth in blocks per game (2.48). He currently sits at third place in a single season in school history in total blocks.
- Counter is the only player in the CAA to rank in the top ten in the league in scoring, assists, and steals per game. The graduate student lead the CAA in assists (169) and assists per game (5.6).
