CHARLESTON, S.C. - College of Charleston Men's Golf Head Coach Mark McEntire has announced the schedule for the upcoming 2011-2012 season.
The Cougars will start where they left off as they open at the Country Club of South Carolina, where they last competed in the 2011 Southern Conference Championship. This time the Cougars will compete in the Spring Hill Suites Intercollegiate (Sept. 12-13) hosted by Francis Marion.
The fall season will be highlighted by the Cougars once again hosting the Invitational at The Ocean Course, which is set to host the 2012 PGA Championship. The Invitational will be held Monday Oct. 17-18 on Kiawah Island.
The Cougars will conclude the fall portion of their schedule by making the long trek to Kauai, Hawaii for the Kauai Collegiate Invitational, Oct. 30-Nov. 1.
"I'm very excited about the schedule we have put together for the upcoming year," McEntire said. "We are going to play in some challenging tournaments and I think our guys realize the hard work they need to put in to be successful and meet our goals for next year."
The Cougars will play a very similar spring schedule to last year as they open with the Pat Hicks Invitational (Feb. 13-14) in St. George, Utah. CofC will once again host the Charleston Shootout at their home course, The Links at Stono Ferry (Feb. 27-28). The last weekend in March the Cougars will battle it out in the always highly competitive Hootie at Bulls Bay tournament before going to Florida Apr. 7-8 for the Gary Koch Invitational in Tampa.
The championship portion of the schedule will commence Apr. 15-17 with the Southern Conference Championships, followed by the NCAA Regional (May 17-18) and NCAA Championship (May 29-Jun. 3).
"I feel very good about the team we will have next year," McEntire said. "I know everyone is putting in a lot of quality work over the summer and I can't wait to get everyone back together to start the season."
