
Men, Women Finish 10th at SoCon Championships

MT. PLEASANT, S.C. - The College of Charleston men's and women's cross country teams each finished in 10th place at the 2012 Southern Conference Cross Country Championships, Saturday morning at Laurel Hill Plantation.
The women were led by sophomore Hayley McMahon, who finished 27th in a time of 18:25.31 for the women's 5K race. Next was sophomore Danielle Sams, who finished 44th in 18:45.14 and freshman Kornelia Kostka finished 48th in 18:57.81.
On the men's side sophomore Mackenzie Johnston led the way for the Cougars as he finished 42nd in 26:27.38 for the men's 8K race. Fellow sophomore Adam Seften was next in 26:45.66 and senior Christian Bailey was third for the Cougars crossing the finish line in 56th place in 26:51.46. Senior Manning Miller finished 63rd in 27:34.33.
CofC head coach Amy Seago said she thought the teams improved a lot over the course of the season and the women ran well, especially Sams, who ran faster than two weeks ago on the same course.
Up next the Cougars will compete in the NCAA Southeast Regional Nov. 9 in Charlotte, N.C.
