
Pepperdine Earns 5-0 Win Over CofC At Day Two Of Sand Classic

In the top flight, Pepperdine's Caitlin Racich and Summer Ross overcame CofC's Elyse Chubb and Lizzie Theesfeld by a score of 21-8, 21-9. Theesfeld tallied eight kills and Chubb picked up seven. Racich led the way for the Waves with 16 kills.
In the second flight, Kelly Kolich and Emily Shelton fell to Pepperdine's Lilla Frederick and Kim Hill in two sets, 21-13, 21-13. Shelton made seven digs and Kolich tallied 10 kills. The Waves were very efficient in the second game, combining for 13 kills and no attacking errors.
The Cougars' third group played the Waves close, losing 21-17 and 21-15 in the two-game match. Andi Zbojniewicz and Kerstin Koehler combined for 15 kills and Koehler picked up three blocks in the match. Zbojniewicz also notched nine digs.
The Cougars lost a dramatic first game in the fourth flight as Sloane White and Taeler Davis were on the wrong side of 21-19 decision. Pepperdine won the second game, 21-11. White made 10 kills and six digs in the match.
Emily Neideffer played well in the fifth heat for CofC, landing 11 kills in the 21-11, 21-18 defeat. Teammate Catey Warren made eight kills and two digs.
Tomorrow's action will start at 9 a.m. with UAB and UNF making up a match that was postponed by rain on Saturday afternoon. The Cougars will conclude the weekend event by playing UNF at 4 p.m. tomorrow afternoon.
