Men?s Soccer Fights Hard, Draws James Madison

MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – After fighting hard for 110 minutes, the College of Charleston men's soccer team could night find the back of the net in a 0-0 draw with James Madison Saturday night at Patriots Point.
Both teams tried began the match feeling out each other's style of play leading to only three total shots in the first half. Both of the Cougars shots came from forward Kye West.
The Cougars (5-4-2, 2-1-1 CAA) came out like gangbusters in the second half with Hamilton Carlin getting two quick headers that just missed. CofC tallied seven shots in the second half alone with four coming on goal but could not find get passed JMU goalie Kyle Morton.
During the overtime period both teams struggled to put up shots. The Cougars defense held strong all night, limiting the Dukes to only two opportunities on goal. Goalkeeper Kevin Shields made two saves throughout the contest.
CofC will have their hands full next week when they travel to #2 North Carolina on Tuesday, Oct. 13 for a match at 7 p.m. Head coach Ralph Lundy will be looking for his 300th victory at CofC.
