Rainey Tied For 15th at NCAA Championship

EUGENE, Ore. – College of Charleston junior William Rainey (Charlotte, N.C.) is currently tied for 15th at the 2016 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships being held at the Eugene Country Club.
He shot the third-lowest round on the second day of tournament play with a 2-under par 68 making eagle on the par-4, No. 9. Rainey, who is ranked No. 60 in the nation, sits at even par after 36 holes and is five strokes back of current individual leader Justin Suh of Southern California (-5).
Overall, Rainey leads the 156-player field in eagles made (2) and is tied for second in pars made (28).
“Today, William grinded out a fantastic score,” CofC Head Coach Mark McEntire said. “He was struggling out on his first nine (holes) by missing it in the correct spots, but still made some great putts. He found his rhythm in the middle of the round and finished with a hole out on the last hole for a great round of 68.”
Rainey will be paired up with individuals Tee-k Kelly of Ohio State and Antoine Rozner of UMKC in tomorrow's third round beginning at 8:17 a.m. (PT) / 11:17 a.m. (ET) off the No. 1 tee.
The third day of stroke-play competition on Sunday will determine the Top 15 teams along with the Top 9 individuals, not on an advancing team, for the final 18 holes of stroke‐play competition to be held on Monday which will determine the Top 8 teams for match-play competition and the 72‐hole individual champion crowned.
