CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston men's golf team returns to the links in its spring opener at the Suntrust Gator Invitational hosted by the University of Florida on Feb. 18-19 at the par-70 Mark Bostick Golf Course in Gainesville, Fla.
The Cougars will compete in a tournament field comprised of schools from the SEC and ACC in Arkansas, host Florida, Florida State, Georgia Southern, Jacksonville, Liberty, Missouri, North Texas, Troy, UAB, UCF, North Florida, South Florida and Wake Forest.
This fall, CofC made four Top-5 finishes and will go with the same starting five in senior All-American William Rainey (Charlotte, N.C.), senior Parker Derby (Columbus, Ga.), freshman Michael Sass (Louisville, Ky.), freshman Logan Sowell (Kershaw, S.C.) and freshman Hunter Dunagan (Augusta, Ga.).
"I am excited to get back into action with this team," CofC Head Coach Mark McEntire said. "We had a great fall and I know that our team is ready to play in competition. The Gator is a great field and excellent golf course. The tournament is a strong field with a bunch of Power 5 programs.
"This will be our third time to play in the tournament and hope that the third time is the charm. We will be playing the same lineup from the fall with Rainey, Derby, Sass, Sowell and Dunagan. This team worked hard over the offseason and is excited to tee it up this weekend."
Live tournament scoring will be available at: www.Golfstat.com.
