CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's golf team opens its spring season at the Central District Invitational hosted by Michigan State on Feb. 20-21 at the par-72 St. Lucie Trail Golf Club at PGA Village in Port St. Lucie, Fla.
The 54-hole event will be played at 6,265 yards and feature a tournament field of 14 teams. Thirty-six holes will be played on Monday and the final round on Tuesday. Both days will be an 8:30 a.m. (ET) shotgun start.
The Cougars made three Top-5 finishes in the fall winning the tournament title at the CSU Fall Invitational on Sept. 13. They will face a strong field that consists of No. 7-ranked Furman, Iowa, Louisville, Maryland, Memphis, host MSU, Nebraska, North Carolina, Ole Miss, Rutgers, Toledo, UNCW and Augusta University.
Senior Laura Fuenfstueck (Langen, Germany) is CofC's top golfer and will be joined in this week's lineup by senior Vici Drechsler (Munich, Germany), freshman Anna-Theresa Rottluff (Meerbusch, Germany), freshman Victoria Huskey (Greenville, S.C.) and freshman Savanah Goodman (Easley, S.C.).
"We look forward to getting our spring tournament schedule started," CofC Head Coach Jamie Futrell said. "We will be challenged this week with a very good field. Our starting lineup has changed a little this week due to an illness to Josefine Garton. She will be missed, but everyone going on the trip has been playing well leading up to this tournament."
