Martin, Lynch Finish 1-2 At CNU Pentathlon

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Jenny Martin (Lansdale, Pa.) and Sarah Lynch (Chalfont, Pa.) finished 1-2 in the pentathlon at the CNU Pentathlon/Heptathlon, hosted by Christopher Newport University, on Monday evening at the Freeman Center.
Martin finished atop the rankings in the five-event competition with 3,040 points – less than 100 points shy of her personal best. The sophomore placed second in the 800-meter run, third in the shot put and long jump, fourth in the high jump, and fifth in the 60-meter hurdles. Her mark of 10.32 meters in the shot put vaulted her into 10th on the program's top-10 performers list.
Lynch placed second with 2,940 points – including a first-place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:42.87. The junior also finished second in the shot put, third in the high jump, fourth in the long jump, and sixth in the 60-meter hurdles. Her mark of 10.93 meters in the shot put moved her into fifth on the program's top-10 performers list.
The Cougars will open the 2017 outdoor season in Wilmington, N.C. at the UNC Invitational on March 9-11 at the Harold Green Track and Field Complex.
