MT. PLEASANT, S.C. --- Kent State limited the College of Charleston baseball team to four hits in a 5-0 win on Sunday afternoon in the rubber game of a three-game weekend series at Patriots Point.

Kent State (9-5) plated five runs on 14 hits – including five for extra bases – while leaving eight men on base. The Golden Flashes held College of Charleston (8-8) scoreless on four hits as the Cougars stranded six. Logan McRae (Florence, S.C.), Riley Knudsen (Cabot, Ark.), Seth Wall (Georgetown, S.C.), and Tommy Richter (Wayne, Pa.) each collected a hit for the Cougars.

Tucker White (Sterling, Okla.) surrendered two runs on six hits and struck out six in four and one-third innings to take the loss. Will Detwiler (Camden, S.C.) went two and two-thirds in relief, and allowed two runs on five hits. Trent Rider (Warfordsburg, Pa.) and Justin Baker (Huntersville, N.C.) each tossed an inning out of the bullpen.

Reilly Hawkins paced the Golden Flashes with three hits and two RBIs, as Luke Burch and Mason Mamarella each collected a trio of base knocks. Dylan Rosa, Pete Schuler, and Tim DalPorto each drove in one run.

Joey Murray tossed five shutout innings while striking out nine and scattering two hits to earn the win. Jared Skolnicki pitched three frames and allowed one hit, while Josh Spangler threw a scoreless ninth.

The Golden Flashes scored two in the first to take an early 2-0 lead, and added two in the seventh and one in the eighth. The Cougars' threatened in the third, putting men on first and second with one out before Murray retired the final batters of the frame. Charleston would also strand a man on third in the eighth after Manzo reached on a fielder's choice, went to second on the overthrow, and advanced to third on a balk.

The Cougars return to the diamond on Tuesday when North Florida comes to Patriots Point for a single game. First pitch is slated for 4:00 pm.
