NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – An eight-year-old school record biting the dust was the highlight of the day for the College of Charleston track & field program, as the Cougars wrapped up the CSU Spring Break Invitational.
Kennay Agnew added the third CofC All-Time outdoor record to her resume in the 100m finals, clocking in with a time of 12.29 seconds to take fifth. The effort eclipsed Ariel Hatcher's mark of 12.39 seconds, which had stood since April 25, 2009. Agnew was active in the 4x100m relay om Saturday as well, with the Cougars finishing third with a time of 48.77, the eighth-fastest mark in school history.
Julisa Tindall picked up the third win of the meet for the Cougars, jumping 1.65m in the high jump to capture first place. Elsewhere in the triple jump, Breanna Tatum finished seventh with a distance of 10.99m.
In the throws, Asia Johnson had a big showing in the shot put, taking 7th overall with a lob of 12.64m, which improved her personal best by 31cm and advanced her from No. 5 to No. 3 on the CofC all-time performance list. Alex Coyle also hit a PR of her own with a heave of 11.01m. In the discus, Coyle finished first among the Cougars in tenth with a toss of 39.46m, while freshman Lydia Bussey made her mark at No. 9 on the CofC performance list with a toss of 35.86m.
Marissa Small-Towns took home seventh in the 800m with a time of 2:20.97. Carlee Cassidy finished sixth in the women's 3000m with a time of 10:35.82, while in the men's version of the race, Hayden DiBona finished second overall with a time of 8:49.99.
The Cougars return to action next weekend, splitting time between NC State's Raleigh Relays and South Carolina's Weems Baskin Invitational.
