CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Colonial Athletic Association Women's Golf Championship is up next for the College of Charleston women's golf team on April 14-16 at Ford's Colony Country Club in Williamsburg, Va.

The 54-hole tournament will be played on the par-72, 6,113-yard Blue Heron Course and conclude on Sunday with the winning team earning the league's automatic berth to the 2017 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship. The Cougars are one of eight squads vying for the title along with Delaware, UNCW, Elon, William & Mary, James Madison, Towson and Hofstra.

The Blue Hens are the defending tournament champions, while CofC won team titles in 2014 and 2015.

The Cougars head into the tournament as the top-ranked team in the Colonial and are led by senior Laura Fuenfstueck (Langen, Germany), who boasts a league-best 72.48 stroke average over 29 rounds with two tournament victories on the year. The two-time CAA Women's Golfer of the Year was the individual champion in 2014 and runner-up in 2015.

Graduate senior Mary Fran Hillow (Orlando, Fla.), a transfer from the University of South Carolina, holds the second-lowest scoring average in the league at 74.06 over 17 rounds.

"We are looking forward to the CAA Championship," CofC Head Coach Jamie Futrell said. "The team has had a good week of practice, and most importantly, we are healthy going into the event. I look for us to have a great week."

Aside from Fuenfstueck and Hillow, CofC will start senior Vici Drechsler (Munich, Germany), freshman Victoria Huskey (Greenville, S.C.) and junior Josefine Garton (Linkoping, Sweden). Huskey and Garton will compete in their first CAA Tournament, while Drechsler her second.

The three-day event will kick-off on Friday at 8:30 a.m. (ET) with all eight teams teeing off the first hole. Saturday's second round will also begin at 8:30 a.m. (ET), while Sunday's final round will begin at 8 a.m. (ET) off the first tee. Live tournament scoring will be available at: www.Golfstat.com
